Painted in a muralistic style, it depicts the diverse and frenetic activity in a Sierra Nevada gold mining camp circa 1850. Created in 1948, Gold Camp may have been intended for the lobby of a movie theater or other building, to celebrate the centennial of the discovery of gold in California. |
